The original Thomas Street wooden fort playground was built in the mid 1980s as a community project. The playground had reached the end of its usable life and work commenced in October 2020 to totally transform it.
Key elements include a new castle and extensive accessible play equipment, a seniors’ exercise area, picnic shelters, a Changing Places and public toilet facility. Several of the turrets from the original structure have been retained and reused in the new playground, to acknowledge the history of the park and the enormous community contribution over the years.
